I refresh my soul in the showers of Spring,
Drop of light, drop of love, drop of life
Be the blessing on my brow, my heart, my hands.
May my soul be preserved in peace
From Spring's dawn light,
Till Spring's twilight.
(Celtic blessing for Spring)
Spring blessings to all of you from COG! At our recent meeting, we rejoiced in the greening of the earth, and looked for the signs of greening in our own lives. May your lives too be filled with new growth in this season.
We are delighted to introduce you to the Saskatchewan Christian Feminist Network's new web site. You can find it at www.saskatchewanfeminist.net . Our thanks go to our talented websters Laurel Beyer and Cathy Anderson. Please visit the site and let us know what you'd like to see posted there.
Another web site that may be of interest to you is www.care2.com, a site supported by a number of non profit organizations and dedicated to empowering you to help create change in the world around you. This site has a special emphasis on women's issues.
The annual meeting of Saskatchewan Conference will be held in Saskatoon at the Soccer Centre June 3-6. As usual, COG has taken responsibility for making the Women's Space there comfortable and inviting. We hope to visit with some of you in it. We will also have a display about the network in the display area. Please check it out and let us know what you think.
A gentle reminder - have you renewed your network subscription for 2004? Not sure? You can send email to membership@saskatchewanfeminist.net to check.
Planning is underway for our annual November Event, to be held at PCTC - Calling Lakes Centre November 10 to 14. Please mark your calendars now, and watch for the brochure that will be coming to you some time this summer.
At the 2003 November Event, a group of women met to discuss a variety of political issues, including the loss of the government of Saskatchewan's Secretariat. COG spent its visioning time looking at issues that seem important for us to keep before the government. We identified the three most critical as being:
COG will continue to examine how the government is addressing these issues, and how we might be active in keeping the issues before them. We look forward to reporting to you and having further conversation at this year's November Event.
You all received a letter several months ago, asking you to volunteer or to nominate another woman to become part of COG. We are looking for both a one-year and an on-going member. Sadly, we did not receive a single reply to that letter. We don't know how to interpret that silence. Did the letter get lost in the mail? Were you too busy to think about it when it came? Is it perhaps buried somewhere on your desk? Or does this mean that we have come to a place where the work of COG is less important to the network? We are excited about the last November Event and the plans for the one coming up, but there are also many exciting and interesting tasks for COG between November Events. We really need your help, and so are extending the invitation once again. It would help us is you could contact Mary by May 25.
May the warm spring breezes bring new light and life to your days.
With blessings,
Pam, for COG
